Beach Riding FAQ

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR/BRING?

- Wear lots of layers, depending on temperature. Hand warmers and toe warmers are great if its a bit chilly out!

- Gloves for warmth

- Camera

- Binoculars

- Must wear a riding helmet - we will provide them or wear your own. No bike helmets!

WHERE SHOULD WE MEET YOU?

Island State Beach Park, Lanoka Harbor, NJ 08734. The specific area you will meeting us at within the park is the OCEAN BATHING AREA #1! The lot is located on your left, after you pull into the park. You are looking for a white truck and green horse trailer!

You will have to pay $5 - $10 for your vehicle to gain entrance to the park too.

WHAT TIME SHOULD WE MEET YOU?

15-20 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment time. If you are late, the time will be taken away from your ride.

IS THERE A BATHROOM THERE?

Bathrooms are not open during the off season. Please find one in town before you arrive!

HOW FAST WILL WE BE ABLE TO RIDE?

The ride will be tailored to your experience and confidence level. We can keep the ride at a walk only or explore the faster gaits such as a trot, canter, and gallop, depending on how your guide assesses your riding level.

Keep in mind that the beach sand is the hardest footing that a horse can walk on so if you are towards the end of our weight limit (200 lbs for beach rides) then the ride will have to stay slower paced as the horse is working very hard!

WHERE DO I PAY THE DEPOSIT?

Please click the link "Reservations" and use the drop-down menu to pay for the reservation AFTER confirming a time/date with us. You can also pay with your credit card over the phone too.

The deposit is $100.00 per person and is non-refundable. The deposit amount goes toward the final price of you ride.

WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?

We will contact you about rescheduling your ride time (no extra charge) if there is heavy rain, or snow/ice making driving conditions too hazardous. If we cannot agree on another date, the deposit can be used towards ANY OF OUR SERVICES.

CAN I RESCHEDULE MY RIDE?

Yes, up to THREE DAYS (72 hours) before your scheduled ride time and you will be charged a $25.00 fee. If you want to reschedule your ride your less than three days before your scheduled time, you will lose your deposit.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY RIDE?

You will forfeit your non-refundable deposit.

Are spectators allowed?
Spectators are always welcome. The beach is open to the public.

How much should I tip?
All gratuities, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated. Most people tip around $20/rider. Tipping is not required.
